The boys and I were examining ants as part of a unit study on cooperation.  As I did my research I discovered that there are over 10,000 species of ants in the world.  Over 10,000 different species of ants alone!  Well, that got me to thinking about Adam, Eve and original sin and taxonomy; logical association, right?

The Bible is full of them. 

I love the way the authors of the Bible include little snippets of information that are woven into the main story in such a way that you either completely miss the reference, or, when you do finally catch it, you are left wondering what on Earth happened next?

One of my favorite biblical cliffhangers is found in Matthew 27:57-58:  

I attend a bible study on Tuesday nights.  It's a multi-year program and I'm just completing year 3.  Each year lasts from September to mid-May and is quite intense.

It's kind of funny that I, the Obstreperous Heart, would attend this particular study as the organization can be suffocatingly rigid in its code of conduct.   I try often to bite my tongue and am only sometimes successful; usually I can't stand the pain and just HAVE to let it flap anyway.  I am probably viewed by some as hopelessly irreverent.  (Just for the record, God does have a kick-butt sense of humor and I am doing my own research on humor in the bible; there is a ton.) 

I was feeling a little sorry for myself yesterday and even a little bit forsaken.  I started to question why so many goofy things were happening; after all, we're just trying to make an honest living.  Then, I thought about Job, a man who walked blameless in the eyes of God and yet he was allowed to suffer horribly.
